The noise levels in Ottawa are low, as the streets tend to be reasonably tranquil - although there are still several louder sections, especially near one of the railway lines, Highway 7, Autoroute de la Gatineau or one of the 3 airports (YRP, YOW, YRO). It is occasionally hard to access green spaces in the city since they are distributed sporadically. Despite that, there are over 1000 parks nearby for residents to check out.


This city is especially car friendly. It is straightforward to come across a parking spot. In contrast, the public transit network in Ottawa is rather limited. Nonetheless, there is the Confederation Station, Carling Station and Bayview Station with access to the Trillium Line. There are over 200 bus lines, and it is easy to find a nearby bus stop from most houses. Most homes for sale in this city are located in areas that are not very convenient for walking as very few daily errands can be run without the use of a vehicle. Despite the fact that some pleasant areas for cycling exist, biking is also at times difficult in Ottawa since the terrain is not particularly flat, and the cycling network is not especially well-developed.


Roughly 30% of properties in Ottawa were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. In this city, about 40% of dwellings are single detached homes, while the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and townhouses. Homeowners occupy roughly two thirds of the properties in Ottawa whereas the rest are rented. This city also has a good variety of housing size options; properties range from lofts to four or more bedrooms.


A portion of home buyers in this city may be able to buy their groceries on foot in one of over 500 stores, while others will have to turn to another means of transportation. A limited selection of restaurants and coffee shops is available as well. Regarding education, it can be challenging to get to high schools and primary schools as a pedestrian from homes for sale in this city. Residents have the option of public and private schools at both the elementary and secondary school level. Likewise, families may find it challenging for their kids to reach daycares on foot.
