Patterson is an excellent neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a relaxed atmosphere. Most areas in this part of Calgary are very quiet, as the streets tend to be very peaceful. Lastly, it is easy to access parks from the majority of locations within the neighbourhood since there are over 50 of them nearby for residents to enjoy.
Transportation
The car is often the best way to move around in Patterson. It is straightforward to park. In contrast, Patterson is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is linked by approximately 10 bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is typically around the corner. Patterson is a fairly pleasant part of Calgary for cyclists. More specifically, there are a good number of bike lanes. Patterson is not very suitable for people who travel as pedestrians because few daily errands can be run without needing a car.
Housing
In Patterson, around 30% of buildings are small apartment buildings, while single detached homes are also present in the housing stock. Roughly half of homes in this area were constructed in the 1990s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1980s and the 2000s. This neighbourhood has a good choice of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. About 70% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas renters make up the remainder.
Services
The nearest grocery store in Patterson is generally only a long trip away. Moreover, a restaurant is often just around the corner, and a small variety of coffee shops is available as well. Concerning education, parents and their children will value the proximity to daycares, which are within walking distance from the majority of homes for sale in this area. On the other hand, there are only a very small number of high schools in this area and consequently they can be a very long trip away. In addition, Patterson does not contain any primary schools.
