Rural Clarington is a fairly good neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a relaxed environment. Most areas in Rural Clarington are reasonably quiet, as the streets are usually peaceful - however noise can be problematic around Highway 401, Highway 35 & 115 or one of the railway lines.

Transportation

Rural Clarington is especially car friendly. It is very easy to access a parking spot. On the other hand, Rural Clarington is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not especially far from most houses. It is difficult to move around by bike in this part of the municipality as there are a good number of slopes, and Rural Clarington is home to quite bad cycling infrastructure. Nonetheless, cycling is better in some sectors than others. Many of the houses for sale in this neighbourhood are located in places that are also not very conducive to those who like to travel by walking because very few day-to-day errands can be run without needing a car.

Housing

About one quarter of properties in Rural Clarington were constructed pre-1960, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of this neighbourhood is an important part of its character. Roughly 90% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 10% are rented. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.

Services

Some, but not all, house buyers in Rural Clarington will live within walking distance of one of around 10 supermarkets. There are also a few options for those who care about restaurants in close proximity. Concerning education, there are only a very small number of high schools in Rural Clarington and accordingly they can be a very long stroll away. In addition, this area does not contain any primary schools. Furthermore, parents and their children may find it very hard to get to daycares by walking.
