Saguenay is reasonably quiet, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although that is not the case closer to Autoroute 70, one of the railway lines or the airport (YBG).
Saguenay is very car friendly. It is especially convenient to come across a parking spot. Saguenay is not very conducive to those who travel by foot because very few daily needs can be met by walking.
In Saguenay, about half of dwellings are single detached homes, while the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings, duplexes, and townhouses. About one third of homes in this city were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s. Some, but not all, home buyers in Saguenay will reside within walking distance of one of over 50 supermarkets. There are also over 250 restaurants in Saguenay. In terms of education, there are only a few high schools and primary schools in Saguenay and consequently they can be a long walk away. Moreover, daycares are not particularly plentiful and therefore not always within walking distance. In addition to public schools, there are private elementary and secondary schools.
