Transportation

Saint James is very car friendly. Parking is easy. Saint James is not very suited for biking because the cycling network is not very comprehensive, and the area is not especially flat. Walking is also not very practical for residents in this parish since almost no daily needs can be met without the use of a vehicle.

Housing

About 30% of homes in Saint James were constructed pre-1960, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. Single detached homes and row houses are the predominant housing type in this parish. Homeowners occupy nearly 95% of the units in Saint James and the rest are rented. In all cases, a vehicle is needed to shop for groceries. With regards to education, Saint James does not contain any high schools or primary schools. Moreover, daycares are not plentiful and thus not always within walking distance.
