Scarborough real estate guide & listings for sale

The character of Scarborough is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. Greenery is reasonably present in this part of Toronto as there are numerous tree-lined streets. There are over 500 parks close by for residents to discover, like Rouge Beach Park and Colonel Danforth Park, making it very easy to reach them. Most areas in this part of Toronto are quiet, as the streets tend to be calm - although that is not the case near Highway 401, Highway 2A or one of the railway lines.

Transportation

Scarborough enables house buyers to move around by a variety of methods of transportation. This former municipality is quite transit friendly as a consequence of plenty of rapid transit stations with access to the Scarborough Line and Bloor - Danforth Line, and over 50 nearby bus lines. Physically active property owners will also value the reasonably pedestrian-friendly character of this area; many daily needs can be carried out by walking. Travelling by bicycle is at times challenging in Scarborough because riding a bike is made strenuous by the often sloping topography, and the bicycling network is not particularly comprehensive.

Housing

In Scarborough, roughly 40% of dwellings are single detached homes, but large apartment buildings and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. About 40% of properties in this part of the city were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This area is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Around two thirds of the population of this former municipality own their home while the remainder are renters.

Services

Parents and their children will find that wherever their property is situated in Scarborough, both primary and secondary schools are close by. In addition to public schools, there are private elementary and high schools. In contrast, daycares are not particularly abundant and consequently may require a rather long walk to get to. When it comes to food, the closest supermarket in Scarborough is typically only a reasonably short walk away. In addition, a restaurant is often just around the corner, for example on Kingston Road, and a limited number of coffee shops is available as well. House buyers benefit from a good number of clothing stores within walking distance.
