Those who enjoy a vibrant atmosphere and spending time in green spaces will feel at home in South Development Area. Although the atmosphere is not the liveliest in this part of the city with the nightlife venues in nearby neighbourhoods, it is very easy to find a place to grab a drink because they are generally located very close by. However, a large number of locations within the neighbourhood have reasonably good access to public green spaces, including Diefenbaker Park, since there are approximately 30 of them nearby for residents to visit.

Transportation

This part of the city is particularly car friendly. It is very convenient to find a place to park, and nearby highways are very easy to access from any location in South Development Area. On the other hand, public transit users may find limited options in this neighbourhood by reason of the service's low frequency. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most properties. South Development Area is conducive to cycling because there are a limited number of slopes. Getting around on foot is not very practical for house buyers in this neighbourhood since many daily needs are at times difficult to meet without the use of a vehicle.

Housing

The sizeable percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of South Development Area is an important part of its character. Around 40% of properties in this neighbourhood were built after the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1990s. This part of Saskatoon is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Nearly all of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the rest are rented.

Services

This part of Saskatoon does not have any high schools or primary schools. In addition, families may find it challenging for their children to reach daycares on foot. As far as food is concerned, it is sometimes feasible for home buyers in this part of the city to do their grocery shopping by walking. Furthermore, this neighbourhood is a fairly good place in which to go out to eat.
