Southview offers an unique mix of areas that are both busy and quiet. Even though this part of the city is not known for its lively atmosphere, with its a few bars, it is easy to find a place to grab a drink because they are generally located a short distance away. At the same time, this area is very quiet, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic.

Transportation

Driving is a very good transportation option in this neighbourhood. Accessing a place to park is generally easy, and many houses for sale are a rather short drive from the closest highway. However, public transit users may have limited choices in Southview due to the service's low frequency. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and it is very easy to get to a nearby bus stop from most residences. Southview is fairly appropriate for bicycling since there are a limited number of elevation changes for cyclists to brave. In contrast, walking in this area is not very common, even though many daily errands can be run without a car.

Housing

A majority of the housing growth in Southview happened in the 1960s and 1970s. Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing about half of dwellings in this part of Medicine Hat, whereas the rest are mainly small apartment buildings. The population residing in this neighbourhood is evenly split between owners and renters. This part of the city is primarily composed of two bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.

Services

Primary schools and daycares are very convenient to get to without a car from anywhere in Southview. However, Southview does not contain any high schools. When it comes to food, a supermarket is ordinarily reachable within a rather short trip from most properties for sale in this neighbourhood. Furthermore, a restaurant is generally just around the corner, and a limited selection of coffee shops is available as well.
