Surrey real estate guide & listings for sale

Surrey is a good city to buy a home in for those who prefer a relaxed atmosphere. This part of the Vancouver metropolitan area is quiet overall, as the streets are usually reasonably peaceful - however some areas can be quite noisy, especially around one of the railway lines, Trans-Canada Highway or Highway 99. Lastly, there are over 900 public green spaces close by for residents to relax in, resulting in them being easy to access from many locations in Surrey.

The best approach to navigate Surrey is very often driving. Coming across a parking spot is easy. However, commuting by public transit is challenging in Surrey. Nonetheless, there is the Gateway Station, Scott Road Station and Surrey Central Station with access to the Expo Line. Commuters can rely on a multitude of rapid transit stations on the Expo Line. The city is served by over 50 bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally close by. Travelling on foot is not very feasible for residents in Surrey because very few daily errands can be run without the use of a vehicle. Moving around by bicycle is also occasionally difficult in Surrey because riding is rendered arduous by the typically sloping terrain, and there are a limited number of bike lanes.

In Surrey, about one third of dwellings are single detached homes, while the rest are mainly small apartment buildings, duplexes, and townhouses. Roughly one third of properties in this part of the Vancouver metropolitan area were built following the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. This city has a good choice of housing sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. About 70% of the dwellings in the city are occupied by homeowners and 30% are rented.

In Surrey, families will usually be able to access primary schools on foot. In contrast, there are only a limited number of high schools and consequently they can be an extended walk away. Besides public schools, there are private elementary and high schools. Likewise, Surrey has some of the province's highest-ranked schools, such as Southridge School and Relevant High School. In terms of food, some, but not all, property owners in Surrey will reside within walking distance of one of over 250 supermarkets. There are also a few opportunities for those who appreciate restaurants and cafes in close proximity.
