Third Lake offers a calm environment. Third Lake is excellent for those who like a quiet atmosphere, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Green spaces aren't well-spread out, making them very hard to get to. Still, there are a few parks nearby for residents to check out.

Transportation

Driving is usually the best means of transportation in this community. It is very convenient to access a place to park. Many of the houses for sale in this part of the municipality are located in areas that are not very conducive to those who like to travel by foot as almost no daily needs can be carried out without the use of a car. It is also very hard to get around by bike in Third Lake as there are a good number of elevation changes, and the cycling network is quite bad.

Housing

The sizeable proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of Third Lake is an important part of its character. About one third of properties in this community were constructed pre-1960, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. This part of the municipality is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 85% of the dwellings in the community are occupied by homeowners while renters occupy the remainder.

Doing one's groceries very often demands the use of a car in Third Lake. With respect to education, there are no high schools and no primary schools in this part of Halifax. Furthermore, daycares are not plentiful and therefore tend to require a very long distance to get to.
