Town Centre is appealing, as it has both vibrant and quiet areas. Even though the ambience is not the liveliest in this area, the vibe can still be quite energetic around its busier streets, and places to go out at night are well-distributed throughout the neighbourhood. At the same time, this neighbourhood is good for those who enjoy quiet surroundings, as there are low levels of noise from traffic, however noise can be bothersome close to the railway line or Highway 401. It is very difficult to access parks in the neighbourhood since they aren't well-spread out. Still, there are approximately 20 public green spaces nearby for residents to enjoy.

Transportation

Town Centre enables homeowners to get around by a variety of methods of transportation. Property owners can depend on public transit to travel in Town Centre owing to Pickering with access to the Lakeshore East, and around 10 nearby bus lines. It is also convenient for people travelling on foot to navigate this neighbourhood; most daily needs are easy to meet without the use of a vehicle, and numerous businesses are fairly close at hand. Although certain bike-friendly pockets exist, it is at times challenging to get around by bike in this neighbourhood as the cycling infrastructure is not especially well-developed, and the terrain is not especially flat.

Housing

The homes in this neighbourhood are relatively new, since around 30% of its dwellings were constructed between 1990 and 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. In this part of Pickering, most dwellings are large apartment buildings, while the rest are mainly small apartment buildings. Homeowners occupy around 70% of the units in Town Centre while renters occupy the remainder. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes.

It is very easy to get to the closest grocery store as a pedestrian from anywhere in this part of the city. Furthermore, there are a fair number of options within a short distance for those who appreciate restaurants and cafes. It is also a rather short stroll to a reasonable variety of clothing stores. In terms of education, in Town Centre, parents and their schoolchildren will generally be able to access primary schools and daycares without the use of a car. In contrast, this part of Pickering does not contain any high schools.
