Transportation

Cars are an excellent medium of transportation in Upper Lands. It is very convenient to find a place to park, and many properties for sale are a reasonably short car ride from the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway. However, public transit riders may have very limited options in Upper Lands due to the infrequent service. It is very inconvenient for pedestrians to move around in this part of the municipality because almost no daily needs can be carried out by walking. Commuting by bicycle is also very difficult in Upper Lands because riding is rendered strenuous by the often steep terrain, and the cycling infrastructure is quite bad.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing roughly 40% of buildings in Upper Lands, and the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and townhouses. This area is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and two bedroom homes. Around 90% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the remainder are rented. The buildings in this neighbourhood are quite new, since roughly one third of its dwellings were constructed after the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s.

Services

High schools and primary schools are not especially plentiful in Upper Lands, and accordingly not always within walking distance. Additionally, parents may consider it very hard for their children to reach daycares as a pedestrian. With regards to food, shopping for one's groceries very often necessitates the use of a car in Upper Lands. There are a few opportunities for those who value restaurants in close proximity.
