Transportation

Upper North River is very car friendly. It is very easy to access a parking spot. Upper North River is not very suited for cycling as the area is not especially flat, and the bicycling network is quite bad. A majority of the houses for sale in this neighbourhood are located in places that are also not very conducive to people who get around as pedestrians because many daily needs are nearly impossible to meet without a car.

Housing

The sizeable proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of Upper North River is an important part of its character. Around 30% of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This part of the subdivision of a county municipality offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 90% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home while the rest are renters.

There are no high schools and no primary schools in Upper North River. Additionally, daycares are not numerous and thus not always within a short distance. Regarding food, in all but a very small number of cases, a car is needed in Upper North River to reach the nearest grocery store.
