Waterford Valley offers an unique mix of areas that are both busy and quiet. Although this neighbourhood is not known for its lively atmosphere, finding one of the about 10 bars is rather challenging because they are generally located relatively far away. At the same time, this part of the city is reasonably quiet overall, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic, although there are still several noisier sections, especially close to None.

Transportation

This area is an extremely good part of St. John's for driving. It is straightforward to come across a place to park, and nearby highways are especially easy to reach from anywhere in Waterford Valley. However, the public transit service in Waterford Valley is not very frequent. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is connected by approximately 10 bus lines, and it is very convenient to reach a nearby bus stop from most residences. Travelling by bicycle is at times difficult in Waterford Valley since the cycling infrastructure is not very well-developed, and riding is made arduous by the often hilly area. Walking is also not very popular in this neighbourhood, even though many daily errands can be run without a car.

Housing

In Waterford Valley, about 45% of buildings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings and duplexes are also present in the housing stock. This part of the city has a good choice of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. About two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas renters make up the remainder. Around one third of homes in this area were built prior to the 1960s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1990s.

Services

It is convenient to access the nearest supermarket by foot from any location in this area. In addition, a restaurant is commonly just around the corner, and a limited variety of coffee shops is available as well. With respect to education, daycares and schools are easy to get to without needing a car from most homes for sale in Waterford Valley.
