West End has a character that appeals to a fairly diverse group of people. Although this neighbourhood is not known for its lively ambience, with its a few nightlife venues, it is easy to find a place to grab a drink because they are generally located relatively close by. West End is very quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. There are approximately 40 green spaces nearby for residents to relax in, like Strathcona Park and Overlanders Park, and they are especially well-located, making it easy to access them.
Transportation
Most homes for sale in this neighbourhood are located in places that are fairly well-suited for pedestrians; many daily needs can be met without a car. This part of Kamloops is also reasonably amenable to bicycling. The transit access in this area is fairly poor. Thankfully, there are about 20 bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and most residences are very close to a bus stop. In contrast, West End is very car friendly. Over half of the housing stock of West End is made up of single detached homes and small apartment buildings, whereas the rest are mainly duplexes. This neighbourhood offers mainly four or more bedroom and two bedroom homes. The split between renters and homeowners is about even. About 40% of properties in this area were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 2000s.
