West Hill offers a calm environment and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. This part of Toronto features a fair amount of greenery; parks, including Colonel Danforth Park and Highland Creek, are very well-located and there are about 30 of them nearby for residents to discover, making it very easy to get to them. Residents will also find that the tree canopy coverage for most streets is reasonably good. This area is quiet overall, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case closer to the railway line.

Transportation

This neighbourhood is quite transit friendly owing to Guildwood Station on the Lakeshore East Line, and a few nearby bus lines. In contrast, this area is not especially bicycling-friendly as cyclists encounter a significant amount of elevation changes, and the cycling infrastructure is sometimes poor. This part of Toronto is not especially well-suited for walking as common amenities such as laundromats or hair salons can be an occasionally long walk away. On the other hand, the car is very often the preferred mode of transportation in West Hill. It is easy to find a parking spot.

Housing

In West Hill, roughly one third of dwellings are large apartment buildings, and the rest of the houses are mainly single detached homes and townhouses. Roughly half of the properties in this part of the city were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This area offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about 60% of the properties in West Hill while the rest are rented.
