West Vancouver offers a relaxed environment and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time in green spaces. The noise levels in this municipality are low, as the streets tend to be peaceful - however noise can be an issue near the railway line, Highway 99 or Trans-Canada Highway. Lastly, green spaces are easy to reach, since most properties have one close by and there are over 250 parks nearby for residents to relax in.


Cars are an excellent means of transportation in West Vancouver. Most real estate listings are a reasonably short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Highway 99, and it is very convenient to park. In contrast, the public transit service in West Vancouver is not very frequent. Thankfully, there are approximately 10 bus lines passing through the municipality, and it is very convenient to get to a nearby bus stop from most residences. West Vancouver is not very cycling-friendly as there is a significant amount of hills, and there are very few bike lanes. West Vancouver is also not very well-suited for those who travel by foot since many daily needs are challenging to carry out without the use of a vehicle.


Roughly one third of properties in West Vancouver were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s. Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing the majority of buildings in this municipality, but large apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. Homeowners occupy about three quarters of the properties in West Vancouver and the rest are rented. This municipality also has a good selection of housing size options; it is quite easy to find homes ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.


It is a reasonably short walk to get to primary schools from most properties for sale in West Vancouver. In contrast, parents and their children may consider it difficult to reach high schools as a pedestrian. Along with public schools, there are private primary and high schools. With respect to food, reaching one of around 20 supermarkets by walking is possible for some, but not all, property owners in West Vancouver. There are also a few opportunities for those who value restaurants and cafes in close proximity.
