Westgate offers an unique mix of areas that are both busy and quiet. Although this part of Grande Prairie is not known for its lively ambience, with the nightlife venues in nearby neighbourhoods, it is easy to find a place to grab a drink as they are generally located a short walk away. At the same time, this area is wonderful for those who need a quiet atmosphere, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic.

Transportation

This area is very car friendly. It is especially convenient to park, and most real estate listings are a short drive from the nearest highway. However, Westgate is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines, and it is especially convenient to get to a nearby bus stop from most houses. Bicycling is easy in Westgate since there are a limited number of slopes, and the cycling infrastructure is fairly comprehensive. Walking is not particularly practical for property owners in Westgate because few daily needs can be met without a vehicle.

Housing

A majority of the housing growth in Westgate has happened after the year 2000. In this neighbourhood, around two thirds of dwellings are small apartment buildings, and the rest are mainly single detached homes. Renters occupy about 70% of the units in the neighbourhood and 30% are occupied by owners. This area also has quite a good choice of housing sizes - although this area is notable for those looking for two bedroom homes.

Services

It is easy to reach the nearest supermarket on foot from any home in Westgate. Likewise, there is typically a restaurant or cafe just around the corner, for example along 101 Avenue. It is also easy to get to a selection of clothing stores by foot. When it comes to education, it is a rather short stroll to reach daycares from most homes for sale in Westgate. On the other hand, there are no primary schools and no high schools in Westgate.
